PHOTOS: Brookline Car Cruise

The car cruise at Brookline Park was Friday evening, and we want to see your photos!

Bob Weihaus of Carrick found his 1950 Mercury in a crushing yard about 10 years ago.

He wasn't about to leave the car of his dreams to meet its end in a junk yard.

"I just couldn't let them crush it," he said. "Anyone who knows anything about cars knows how iconic this car is."

Weihaus's car was one of more than a dozen that parked at on Friday evening.

Weishaus said it took six years and a lot of elbow grease to get the car roadworthy, and on its first drive he had another setback.

"I drove it about six miles before a woman came around and hit right into it," he said with a laugh. "That did about $7,000 worth of damage and gave me some more work to do."

The Mercury needed a bit more work on Friday, but otherwise was looking good. A little work here and there is no big deal, Weishaus said.

"This is all part of it," he said.
