Hollywood Hosting Summer Concert Movie Series

Starting this weekend, June 8 and 9, Dormont's Hollywood Theater is hosting a summer Concert Movie Series, featuring films and documentaries about famous rock groups.

The series opens this weekend with Jonathan Demme's film "Stop Making Sense" (1984) about The Talking Heads at the height of the group's fame. For details about show times, click here.

Screening July 5 to 7 is "The Last Waltz," (1978) a concert film and documentary focused on the original lineup of The Band. The film, directed by Martin Scorsese, features Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Muddy Waters.

"Awesome; I…Shot That!," a 2006 release, features footage from a 2004 Beastie Boys concert at Madison Square Garden. The footage in the film was shot by fans during the show, and the film was directed by Adam Yauch. The documentary run Aug. 2 to 4 at the Hollywood.

The series wraps up with a classic of rock documentaries: 1976's "This Song Remains the Same" will run Sept. 6 to 8. Although the film's feature is Led Zeppelin's three-night stint at Madison Square Garden in 1973, the airport scenes at the beginning of the film were shot at Pittsburgh International Airport when the band was on its way to a show at Three Rivers Stadium.

Show schedules are subject to change. For updates, call the theater at 412-563-0368 or check the Hollywood’s Facebook page and website. Unless otherwise noted, admission is $7 for adults, $5 for children younger than age 12, and $5 for seniors.
