"Dream Dormont" is Next Step for Borough's Future

There's an open meeting at Hollywood Theater next week, and all Dormont dreamers are invited.

The "Dream Dormont" meeting on June 5 will be an open-forum discussion, giving residents and those who work in the borough an opportunity to talk about issues, ideas for improvements and ways of moving the borough into the future.

Dormont Borough officials and staff, as well as the three outside organizations involved in the borough's comprehensive plan process—Duane Morris Government Strategies, Sam Schwartz Engineering and Interface Studio—will be at the meeting.

A comprehensive plan guides the policies and procedures of a borough as the borough grows and changes throughout the years. Topics including where and how money is spent, zoning, housing, parks, community programs, transportation, and businesses typically are discussed or re-organized.

Although the state mandates that comprehensive plans be updated every 10 years, Dormont's comprehensive plan has not been updated since 1995. Public involvement from those who live and work in the borough is a major part of the comprehensive plan.

Information about the comprehensive plan and about the June 5 public meeting also can be found on the Dormont Borough website.
