Charges Filed Against Suspect in Shooting of Brookline Man

The suspect turned himself in to police on Sunday.

Charges were filed against a man who turned himself in for the shooting of a Brookline man in Oakland.

Per court dockets, Isiah Smith, 22, of the Lincoln-Lemington area of Pittsburgh, was charged Aug. 5 with homicide, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person.

Smith reportedly turned himself in after the shooting death of Zachary Sheridan, 24, of Brookline, in Pittsburgh's Oakland neighborhood early Saturday morning.

According to a report from Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, police released Smith on Sunday because the Allegheny County District Attorney's Office did not approve charges. Charges were approved on Monday. To read a full account of the situation based on the criminal complaint, click here.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 16 at 8:30 a.m. before Judge Donna Jo McDaniel.
