Any word on if the original location will get upgraded? I agree with Bob, they should get that place up to speed even if its as little as taking charge cards or getting delivery. They should start using Square

I don't think Whole Foods will kill it. WF is insanely over priced and this sounds like a nice medium with all of the new places popping up. Market District is overrated so it's good to see new options.
Now the important thing, anyone know if they're going to see 6 packs :)

ReplyState store locations are based on population and demand. I hardly believe that rural areas are going to be up in arms over it, they're the ones who could benefit from this. Also all of those state store workers wont be without job, most will have a chance to get hired back. Based on what I've experienced some shouldn't even have jobs there since they lack customer service skills and basic knowledge of the products.
By doing this PA can stop the bleeding from residents going to OH/NY/NJ/WV/MD to buy the same alcohol at a considerably lower price.
The state should never have been in the alcohol business. the time is now for change. Just because it failed before doesn't mean the idea was bad, just the plan was.

Mad Mex has more taps but Mexi Casa has more bottles. Dormont has 2 places to buy good beer at, Cains and Mexi Casa. I give Ali credit for not sticking to the maco mexican beers people tend to ask for and went out to offer great beers with their foods. Plus I've found the prices at Mexi to be lower than most and you cant beat the special taps when they're on. Plus Mexi was one of the only places to find The Perfect Crime which was incredibly rare in Pgh.
Ali keep up the great work!

A "chain" restaurant is a business with 10 different locations so yes, Mad Mex is a chain.

@ed That store isnt bad. a little pricey but great in a pinch. I'd love something like that but with seats outside in the summer that's close. before the owner retired, 3 sons Dogs n Suds in Wexford was a great example
