Lots of Dormont-Brookline restaurants, shops and other great places can be found in our directory. Review them here!
This week's local business spotlight is Hank's Hotdogs Too of Brookline Boulevard. Formerly Hank's Dog House, this business that was housed on West Liberty Avenue for over four decades moved to the boulevard a few years back. Hank's is a throwback with its wax paper and stand-at-the-counter-to-eat regulars. That's right—no chairs. And did we mention that it's cash only here? Nevertheless, the regulars stand by the quality of the food and the nostalgic feel. Just ask them about the "secret recipe" chili. Take out or eat in. Metered parking out front. Have you been to Hank's? Review this restaurant on its directory listing. Follow Dormont-Brookline Patch on Facebook and Twitter. For more news, sign up for our email Newsletter.

Dormont police are issuing another warning to residents—parking on West Liberty Avenue during rush hour could get your car towed. Sgt. James Burke said the police want residents to be aware that if a car is parked illegally during rush hour, it won’t sit on the street long before it is removed. “It does create a traffic hazard, and not only are we citing them, but we’re towing them pretty much immediately,” he said. Burke said that when cars parked illegally on West Liberty Avenue during rush hour, they will be ticketed as soon as an officer gets to the scene. The officer will then immediately try to make contact with the owner, but if that’s not possible, then a tow truck will be called. Burke said the PublicStuff system has helped in …

I have been going to the Vasta for approx 13 years. I, myself, have never had anyone threaten or assault me. The people who seem to get into fights, etc are usually intoxicated and would behave in a dangerous manner no matter what bar they are at. I have seen their security in action. They try to avoid confrontations before they start. Even though the incident happened inside the bar, security …   more ›
