Car Window Broken, Theft in Brookline

Brookline, Beechview police blotter, Feb. 25 to March 3.

Within a day of each other, two criminal incidents involving damage or theft from a vehicle were reported in Brookline. On Feb. 27 at 3:30 p.m., the window of a vehicle was reportedly broken and money stolen from inside. The vehicle was parked in the 700 block of Norwich Avenue at the time of the incident. In a separate incident, it was reported that the window of a vehicle parked in the 1400 block of Brookline Boulevard was broken between 11 p.m. on Feb. 27 and 7 a.m. on Feb. 28.  Those with information are asked to contact Pittsburgh Police, Zone 6 detectives. Property, Vehicle Damaged After Hillsdale Ave. Accident

Dormont police blotter, Feb. 8 to Feb. 14.

A driver whose car ended up on its side after an accident claimed he swerved to miss a deer, but Dormont police said that scenario is unlikely. Police responded to the 1500 block of Hillsdale Avenue on Feb. 10 at 3:25 p.m. after the Dormont Volunteer Fire Department notified them of an accident in which a vehicle was on its side on the sidewalk in front of a Hillsdale Avenue home. The vehicle struck and damaged a retaining wall on the property, and there was heavy damage to the vehicle, according to the police report. The driver, identified as Alan Peace, 29, of Mt. Lebanon, told police he swerved to miss a deer as he was turning from Belrose Avenue onto Hillsdale, according to the police report. Police determined that Peace was speeding …

Three Arrested for Drug Possession

Brookline, Beechview police blotter, Feb. 4 to Feb. 10.

Three men, one of whom is a juvenile, were arrested Feb. 6 for drug-related charges in the 1500 block of Rockland Avenue in Beechview. Narcotics detectives arrested the juvenile male for possession with the intent to deliver marijuana, heroin and cocaine. Darian Simpkins of Munhall also was arrested for possession with the intent to deliver cocaine. Darrell Powell of Brookline was arrested for possession of marijuana. Pittsburgh Police Looking for Vandals

Police are looking for four men in a red car who damaged numerous cars in Beechview.

Pittsburgh police today issued an alert that a group of men was seen purposely damaging cars in Beechview. Around 8 p.m. Tuesday, police received several reports from residents in the 2700 block of Shiras Avenue in Beechview. A witness told police that four white men in a red compact car were driving down the street hitting parked cars with a baseball bat. At least three damage reports have been filed by residents in the area. Those with information are asked to contact Zone Six Detectives at 412-937-3051. Callers can remain anonymous. Burglar Runs When Confronted by Homeowner

Brookline Police Blotter, July 10 to July 15.

Pittsburgh police are looking for a man who broke into a Brookline home, but ran when he was confronted by the homeowner. A man told police that just before noon on July 11, the suspect forced open a rear window of his home in the 400 block of Jillson Avenue and came inside. The man then confronted the suspect, who ran from the scene. The suspect is described as a man between the ages of 22 and 26, who is about 5’9”, 170 pounds, with a medium build. No New Info in Stolen Car Mirror Incidents

Mirrors were stolen from several Brookline cars over the weekend, but police have no new information.

Pittsburgh police are still investigating several incidents of stolen vehicle mirrors in Brookline over the weekend, but they don’t yet have any new information in the case. Three reports of stolen mirrors on Berkshire Avenue and two on Eben Street were made between Jan. 13 and Jan. 16, but vehicles throughout Brookline were affected. The exact number of damaged vehicles was not known.  According to the report, mirrors were completely—and carefully—removed from the cars in some cases, while in other cases only the mirror glass was removed.
