Dormont Approves #1 Cochran Redevelopment Plan

Dormont Council approved a redevelopment plan proposed by #1 Cochran earlier this year, and the plan includes several things the automotive group will do for the borough.

Dormont Council has approved a plan proposed by the #1 Cochran Automotive Group for redevelopment on West Liberty Avenue. In a special meeting held Wednesday, Dec. 19, council approved a plan that has been discussed publically for the past 10 months. Council members John Maggio and Eugene Barilla did not attend the meeting. Borough manager Jeff Naftal said that for now, parking in the borough will not change. Residents and business patrons can continue to park where they always have parked. All of #1 Cochran's development plans must be approved by borough council before they are implemented in the borough. Dormont Council is holding a special meeting today, Wednesday, Dec. 19, to discuss the proposed #1 Cochran redevelopment plan.

Dormont Council will hold a special, public meeting today, Wednesday, Dec. 19, to discuss the proposed #1 Cochran redevelopment plan. The meeting is at 7 p.m. at Dormont Municipal Center. The agenda and related documents are attached to this article as a PDF document. Council plans to discuss the proposed agreement with #1 Cochran, which would include a potential land swap between the company and the borough, as well as the points #1 Cochran would have to meet in order for the borough to approve an agreement. Council also plans to discuss the creation of a committee to organize a tax increment financing (TIF) district, which was proposed as a way to pay for new parking lots and other construction around the #1 Cochran site. Council plans to discuss the proposed agreement with #1 Cochran, which would include a potential land swap between the company and the borough, as well as the points #1 Cochran would have to meet in order for the borough to approve an agreement. Council also plans to discuss the creation of a committee to organize a tax increment financing (TIF) district, which was proposed as a way to pay for new parking lots and other construction around the #1 Cochran site.
