Police Planning DUI Patrols in the South Hills

Numerous police departments from across the South Hills are planning to participate in roving DUI patrols this weekend.

Numerous police departments from across the South Hills are planning to participate in roving DUI patrols Friday night and early Saturday morning. Police officers from Bridgeville, Scott, Heidelberg, Collier, South Fayette, Mt. Lebanon, Castle Shannon, Baldwin Township, Dormont and Green Tree will be out on patrol looking for impaired drivers. However, there will not be any stationary checkpoints on any roads throughout the night, police said. This event is in conjunction with the Mt Lebanon Area DUI Task Force and funded through the Pennsylvania DUI Association with grants from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

KO Loses to South Fayette at Home

The Keystone Oaks boys basketball team lost Tuesday evening's game.

After a pair of wins over the weekend, the Keystone Oaks boys basketball team lost at home to South Fayette on Tuesday. The final score was 77-69, in what Keystone Oaks High School principal Scott Hagy called a tough, hard-fought and exciting game. Taylor Lehman was the leading point scorer for Keystone Oaks with 18 points, Jared Skolnicki had 17 points, Cory Sevacko had 13 points and Kobe Phillippi had 12 points. The next game, for both the boys and girls teams, is Friday night against Thomas Jefferson. KO Boys Basketball Wins Against Canevin, Hopewell

The Keystone Oaks Boys basketball team had a winning weekend, and plays again Tuesday.

It was a winning weekend for the Keystone Oaks boys basketball team, with victories over both Canevin and Hopewell in the tip off tournament. Friday night the boys marked a win over Canevin with a final score of 70-54. Cory Sevacko had 28 points, Jared Skolnicki had 19 and Taylor Lehman had 17. On Saturday night the boys got a second win after a tough game against Hopewell, ending with a score of 69-61. Cory Sevacko scored a career high of 36 points and won Most Valuable Player of the tournament, with Jared Skonicki winning all tournament team honors. Recipe of the Week: Spicy Slow Cooked Chili

Try this easy and tasty chili slow cooker recipe that is perfect for these cold and rainy fall days.

The annual Bridgeville-South Fayette Rotary’s Chili Cook-Off is scheduled for Sunday, so what better recipe to enjoy on the weekend than slow cooker chili? It’s easy and will make for a tasty treat on these cold, rainy days of fall that seem to be happening more and more often. First, you want to heat a large skillet on medium-high heat and stir in the ground beef. Cook and stir for about seven minutes until the beef is evenly browned with no longer pink and crumbly. Drain and discard any excess grease in the pan. Combine the ground beef, kidney beans, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, onions, bell pepper, garlic, chili powder, cayenne pepper, salt and black pepper into the slow cooker. The Keystone Oaks High School girls soccer team lost to South Fayette on Monday night, with a final score of 8-0. Attached are some pictures of last night's game. South Fayette Steals the Spotlight at Keystone Oaks' Homecoming Game

In a game marked by penalties and turnovers, the Keystone Oaks Golden Eagles fell short to the South Fayette Lions.

The South Fayette Lions dismantled the excitement of the Golden Eagles' homecoming Friday night in a critical AA Century Conference game at Dormont Memorial Stadium with a final score of 28-3. “We put it all together tonight. We played 48 minutes as a team,” South Fayette coach Joe Rossi said. “It was a little rough at the start, but this is the first time we’ve had our offensive line all together. Hopefully we can ride this into our next game.” With an excruciating 116 penalty yards and four turnovers, Keystone Oaks beat themselves while allowing South Fayette stars Zach Challingsworth and Trevor Fiorentini to shine.
