Double Features and Live Shows, This Weekend at the Hollywood

Hollywood Theater has a unique lineup this weekend.

Dormont's Hollywood Theater has a weekend lineup that includes double features and live shows. The weekend kicks off today, Friday, with two rounds of double features. At 2 p.m. cartoons will be shown, followed by "The Never Ending Story." More cartoons start at 4 p.m., followed by "The Goonies." On Saturday, the Silent Partner and Friends Live Concert Series continues. Silent Partner, the Good Guys and the Rockin' Brits will perform, starting at 7 p.m. Those who want to stick around can watch a midnight showing of "Rocky Horror Picture Show." Vendor List, Details for Dormont Street Fair

See who the vendors are for the Dormont Street Fair, this Saturday, Oct. 13.

More than 40 local vendors, plus sponsors, supporters and contributors will come together this Saturday, Oct. 13, for Dormont's 6th Annual Street Fair. From 2 to 11 p.m. Saturday, fair-goers will find special foods, crafts, jewelers, retail vendors and more along Potomac Avenue. The street fair also will include a children's area with magicians, jugglers and face painting. The entertainment is local, too. The Good Guys Band will headline the event, and there also will be performances by Bastard Bearded Irishmen, Silent Partner, and singer Raeya, who performed last month at the Taste of Dormont. Between bands, dancers from Sterling Yoga will perform in front of the stage. Potomac Avenue will be closed to traffic from 10 a.m. until midnight…

Dormont Street Fair Right Around Corner

Vendor applications and a preliminary street fair schedule are now available.

Dormont's annual street fair is quickly approaching, and space is available for vendors who want to participate. The street fair will be held Oct. 13 along Potomac Avenue, in the heart of Dormont's business district. Bands lined up to play include hometown favorites Bastard Bearded Irishmen and Silent Partner, as well as singer Raeya, and The Good Guys Band. Events will be held throughout the day. A children’s area on Potomac Avenue will feature games, crafts, strolling jugglers and magicians.  Child Safety ID’s The Dormont Police Department and Freemason’s CHIP Program will sponsor a Child Safety Identification booth, and the Dormont Volunteer Fire Department will have a fire truck handy. Get Out: Triathlon, Concert Fundraiser and Grand Prix

Local Band Teams Up With Hollywood for Concert Series

Silent Partner and the Friends of Hollywood Theater will collaborate on an ongoing concert series to benefit the theater.

A band with local roots is teaming up with Friends of Hollywood Theater to host an ongoing concert series in Dormont. The band Silent Partner and the Friends organization will host the concerts at Dormont’s Hollywood Theater, starting with the upcoming April 28 show. Tickets are $10 and are available now. “We’ve been thinking about this for a long time,” said Lou Pietosi of Silent Partner. “We all grew up around here and always wanted to play here for our friends and family.” Many band members now live in surrounding communities, but Pietosi said almost all members of both Silent Partner and Hausen—who will join Silent Partner in their April show—grew up in either Dormont or Brookline. Many attended Keystone Oaks High School together. …
