Liberty Tunnel Overnight Lane Closures Begin Tonight

Lane closures in the tunnels are due to cellular antenna and cable work, and will last throughout the month.

If you're heading back to Dormont and Brookline later tonight, you might run into delays at the Liberty Tunnel. Single-lane traffic will occur in the tunnel beginning tonight, Monday, Jan. 7. PennDOT crews will be performing cellular antenna and cable work. Restrictions will occur as needed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times, but PennDOT advises drivers to use caution, allow extra time for travel and expect changing traffic patterns in the tunnel. The schedule is as follows: Monday through Friday nights, Jan. 7-11 Monday through Friday nights, Jan. 14-18 Monday night, Jan 21 Tuesday night, Jan. 22 Outbound restrictions will be coordinated to begin later on nights when there are events downtown. …

Liberty Bridge, Banksville Road Work This Weekend

Here's what to expect with traffic this weekend.

Some weekend road work could make it a little challenging to get into Pittsburgh, and back home to Dormont and Brookline. The ramp connecting the Liberty Bridge to Crosstown Boulevard will be closed for wall repairs from 8 p.m. on Friday through 6 a.m. on Monday. In addition, the work on Banksville Road is still a few months from completion, and is expected to continue daily until early or mid-December. There will be single-lane closures as needed between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the inbound (northbound) lanes, and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the outbound (southbound) lanes between the Parkway West and Beverly/McFarland Road. Part of Crane Avenue to Close Tuesday

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that part of the busy Beechview road will be closed temporarily.

If you're heading to work through Beechview early Tuesday morning, you'll likely miss this bit of roadwork. Later in the day though, you might want to find an alternate route. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that part of Crane Avenue, between Dagmar Street and Route 51, will be closed between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The entrance to Brashear High School sits on this portion of Crane Avenue. Weekend Road Work, Line Painting in South Hills

Construction and line painting will occur through Dormont, Mt. Lebanon, Upper St. Clair and Bethel Park this weekend.

Road work and line painting will affect several South Hills neighborhoods this weekend, including Dormont. The orange cones will return on Banksville Road as construction continues this weekend, weather permitting. According to PennDOT, traffic will be brought down to a single lane between the Parkway West and Beverly/McFarland Road from Friday, Aug. 3 at 8 p.m. until Monday, Aug. 6 at 6 a.m. One lane will be open in each direction. The passing and turn lanes will be shut down, and there may also be short-term closures of side roads as well. Liberty Tunnel Cleaning This Week

PennDOT will be cleaning the Liberty Tunnels this week, July 9 to 12.

Commuters, beware—Liberty Tunnel cleaning starts tonight. Work to clean the inbound (northbound) Liberty Tunnel will occur nightly this week, Monday through Thursday nights, July 9 to 12. Inbound single lane traffic will occur from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night. One lane will remain open at all times. Outbound traffic will not be affected.   PennDOT advises drivers to use caution, allow extra time and expect changing traffic patterns in the tunnel. Banksville Road Work Continues This Weekend

Crews will continue resurfacing work on the road this weekend.

If you're heading into Pittsburgh this weekend, keep an eye on Banksville Road—road work continues through the weekend. Weather permitting, single-lane traffic closures will occur from 8 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Monday, between Carnahan Road/Wenzell Avenue and the Parkway West exit. PennDOT crews will be milling and paving. The work is part of a $4.7 million project includes milling and resurfacing, culvert improvements, drainage, guiderail, curbing, and traffic signal and signage upgrades on 2.4 miles of Banksville Road from the Parkway West to McFarland Road in the City of Pittsburgh, Dormont Borough and Mt.
