Red Line Detour Planned for Sunday

Allow for extra travel time.

Port Authority will detour inbound red line T service all day Sunday, May 12 due to track work in Beechview. The track work and detour originally scheduled for Saturday, May 11 is canceled due to a local event. During the detour, inbound red line service will serve regular stops from South Hills Village to Overbrook Junction/Willow, then detour via the Blue Line’s routing to South Hills Junction, then continue to Station Square, downtown and the North Shore. Inbound local light rail shuttles will serve stops from Overbrook Junction to Potomac, and inbound bus shuttles will serve T stops from Potomac to Station Square. Prepare for Weekend Rail Work on the T in Beechview

Red line riders should allow for extra time when traveling during the detours.

Port Authority will detour red line T service on several weekends this spring and summer in order to conduct track repairs in Beechview. Red line riders should allow for extra time when traveling during these detours.  The following weekends are scheduled for rail work: The T will detour between Overbrook Junction and South Hills Junction all day each Saturday and Sunday. During the work, service to red line stops will be provided by a combination of detoured red line service, bus shuttles and local light rail shuttles.  For example, this weekend (April 27-28) inbound red line service will use regular route from South Hills Village to Overbrook Junction/Willow, then detour via the blue line’s routing until South Hills Junction, where it …

45 Bus Stops Detoured During St. Patrick's Day Parade

The Port Authority will detour or shorten several routes during Saturday's parade.

The Port Authority of Allegheny County will detour or shorten about 45 bus routes serving Downtown and the Strip District during the St. Patrick's Day parade tomorrow, Saturday, March 16.  Bus routes serving the Strip District will be detoured as early as 7:30 a.m., with other detours starting around 9 a.m. Regular stops and routing are expected to be restored around 2:30 p.m. During the parade, South Side and South Hills bus routes will end at Station Square, where riders continuing into Downtown can transfer to the T for free. Second Avenue bus service will end at the First Avenue T Station and Oakland/Hill District/Penn Hills routes will end near the Steel Plaza T Station. All T rides within Downtown are free. Port Authority Schedules to Change March 17

Port Authority schedules for some routes will be adjusted, effective March 17.

If you use the Port Authority for transportation, your route might be affected by changes that start March 17. Schedules for about 35 Port Authority routes will be adjusted, and the new schedules will be effective Sunday, March 17. The Port Authority adjusts schedules four times per year. Port Authority: Normal Schedule on Presidents' Day

The transit service schedule will not change, but the Downtown Service center will be closed.

If you depend on the Port Authority for your morning communte, your schedule will not be affected by the Presidents' Day holiday. The Port Authority of Allegheny County will provide regular weekday bus, light rail and incline service today, Presidents' Day, Feb. 18. However, the Authority’s Downtown Service Center on Smithfield Street will be closed Monday in observance of the holiday. Free Transit to Continue for Pitt Students, Staff

The Port Authority and the University of Pittsburgh reached an agreement for the next five years.

Port Authority of Allegheny County and the University of Pittsburgh have reached a new agreement that will provide pre-paid transit access for approximately 40,000 students, faculty and staff for the next five years. The agreement, approved by Port Authority's Board of Directors Friday, provides for annual reimbursements by the university based on recorded usage by its students, staff and faculty. The university’s annual payment to Port Authority has increased by more than 50 percent over the last five years and is projected to continue generating additional revenue under this agreement. “Our collaboration with the University of Pittsburgh as the first large-scale smart card partner has been incredibly valuable and we are extremely pleased…

UPDATE: Car Stuck on T Tracks Sunday Night

No injuries were reported in an accident in which a car got stuck on the Potomac tracks.

No injuries and no major damage was reported when a vehicle became stuck on the T tracks in Dormont on Sunday night. Heather Pharo, a spokeswoman for the Pittsburgh Port Authority, said the vehicle became stuck on the outbound side of the tracks near Potomac Avenue around 11:20 p.m. The Port Authority police were dispatched to the scene, and the vehicle was cleared around 11:40 p.m. Pharo said the incident had minimal impact on travel during that time period. "We had the T do single-tracking around it while auto was stuck on the rail," she said. "The impact is fairly minimal at that time of night, especially on a Sunday."
