Seton Center to Host Summer Farm Stand Project

The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank's 2013 Farm Stand Project is coming to the Seton Center in Brookline.

A taste of the farm is coming to Brookline this spring. The Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank 2013 Farm Stand Project will have a location at the Elizabeth Seton Center parking lot on Pioneer Avenue. The stand will operate on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., June 19 to Nov. 21. The farm stands sell locally-grown produce, and all stands accept cash, EBT, WIC, and Senior FMNP. Brookline Bust Nets $43,000 of Heroin

Thursday's drug bust in Brookline netted $43,000 of heroin, plus other drugs and drug paraphernalia.

A drug bust Thursday morning in Brookline netted $43,000 worth of heroin, as well as marijuana and drug paraphernalia, according to Pittsburgh Police. Police, including narcotics detectives and a SWAT unit, arrested three people at a residence in the 400 block of Winterhill Street, after a month-long investigation, and receiving numerous complaints of illegal drug activity in the area. According to Pittsburgh Police, the following items were seized from the residence: Robert Anthony Agurs, 24, of Garfield; Demetrius Williams, 21, of Beltzhoover; and Jennifer Jenkins, 25, of Brookline were arrested and taken to Allegheny County Jail. Three Arrests in Brookline Drug Bust

A large amount of heroin was found and three people were arrested Thursday morning during a Brookline drug bust.

A month-long investigation by Pittsburgh Police has led to three arrests and the seizure of a large amount of drugs in Brookline. Pittsburgh police executed a search warrant at 8:50 a.m. Thursday at a residence in the 400 block of Winterhill Street, with narcotics and vice units, as well as SWAT personnel on scene. According to the police report, numerous complaints of illegal drug activity in that neighborhood had been reported. Police Activity Thursday Morning in Brookline

A Pittsburgh police spokesperson said police activity in Brookline on Thursday morning was narcotics-related.

A police situation reported in Brookline this morning is related to drug activity, according to a spokesperson for Pittsburgh Police. Dormont-Brookline Patch contacted Pittsburgh Police Public Information Officer Diane Richard on Thursday morning after hearing reports from residents of possible SWAT activity in the area of Pioneer and Bellaire avenues around 9 a.m. Richard said police-related narcotic activity was conducted in that area, and that a full report would be available Thursday afternoon. Rush-Hour Accident Reported on Pioneer Avenue

This accident occurred near the Pioneer-Northcrest intersection in Brookline.

A traffic accident sent a driver through a Brookline guardrail during rush hour Thursday morning. According to reports from WPXI, the accident occurred around 9 a.m. along Pioneer Avenue between the intersections with Northcrest and Southcrest drives. An SUV went through the guardrail, also damaging a tree. Trisha Pittman of WPXI told Dormont-Brookline Patch via Twitter that the accident was expected to be cleared quickly. Car Reported Stolen from Arkansas Ave.

Dormont police blotter, Dec. 7 to Dec. 14.

A car was reported stolen from the 1200 block of Arkansas Avenue after it was left running outside of a home, Dormont police said. According to the police report, the owner jump-started the car shortly after 9 p.m. because it would not start on its own. The owner then went inside the home, leaving the car running outside, and noticed the car missing around 9:25 p.m. The car is a 1999 gold-colored Ford Taurus. UPDATE: Water Main Break Reported on Pioneer Avenue

A reader sent us this photo of an apparent water main break on Pioneer Avenue yesterday, Tuesday.

A Brookline street was a little soggy yesterday, and roadwork continued into last night and today. A reader reported to Dormont-Brookline Patch that an apparent water main break occurred on Pioneer Avenue yesterday, Dec. 4, likely between 3 or 4 p.m. The break occurred near the intersection of Brookline Boulevard and Pioneer Avenue, and crews still are on scene today, Wednesday, making repairs. One the Dormont-Brookline Patch Facebook page, one reader said work on the break tied up traffic and caused her to be late for work this morning. Others shared their experiences, too. Gallon-Size Bag of Drugs Found on Man Driving Stolen Motorcycle

A Dormont man arrested Tuesday is accused of stealing a motorcycle from Verona, Pa., and was found with plastic bag of drugs.

A Dormont man accused of stealing a motorcycle from Verona, PA was arrested by Pittsburgh police Tuesday night in Brookline. Pittsburgh police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Northcrest Drive and Pioneer Avenue in Brookline just after 8 p.m. on Oct. 30. According to the report, it was determined that the motorcycle had been reported stolen out of Verona. Police also seized a gallon-sized resealable plastic bag of marijuana and pills. The driver, Ashley Stokes, 27, of Dormont, was charged with receiving stolen property, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and driving without a license. Stokes currently is being held in Allegheny County Jail. Follow …

Man Arrested After Police Chase In Dormont

Police caught up with the man on Pioneer Avenue.

A man with two outstanding warrants was arrested after leading Dormont police officers on a foot chase through two neighborhoods. Officers on patrol in the 2900 block of West Liberty Avenue at 4:25 p.m. spotted Robert Felton Jr., who police said had two outstanding warrants for arrest. According to the police report, Felton fled the area on foot, and officers chased him through traffic and between several homes in the neighborhood near Tennessee Avenue before he was caught in the back yard of a home in the 3100 block of Pioneer Avenue. Felton, 19, of Pittsburgh, is being held in Allegheny County Jail on charges of recklessly endangering another person and resisting arrest, as well as charges of burglary and theft stemming from a September …
