This cat has been neutered but not declawed.
This is Kenny, a cat in need of a home. According to his profile on the Animal Rescue League website, when Kenny first arrived at the shelter as a stray, he was extremely ill, but his foster mom nursed him through it to rebound as a happy, healthy cat. "Kenny ... is the perfect combination of affectionate and playful," the rescue league's website states. "He's a friendly boy who loves belly rubs. He also enjoys playing with just about anything—wand toys, balls, laser lights. "Kenny gets along well with other cats, and he often 'mothers' more frightened or hurt cats. Plus, look at that darling little face! How can you resist? "Because Kenny can playfully nibble on the fingers of those he loves, he would probably be best off in a home …

This small, black kitty—just 1 year and 6 months old—is looking for a home. Bentley makes the Animal Rescue League staff giggle, and prefers to be told how velvety soft and warm she is. She came to the shelter with badly matted fur, so she was sedated and shaved so that her coat will grow back beautiful and shiny, and clean. Bentley is a medium-haired kitty with a beautiful plume tail. She is affectionate and playful, but just a little shy in the shelter when she meets new people. So if you visit Bentley, give her a little time to trust you and you will be rewarded. Any questions, please send an email to catladycam@gmail.com. This friendly girl has had a hard time finding a home. Can you help?
Minnie is a friendly 7 year old Pit/Bulldog mix who first arrived at our shelter in March. She had lost her home of 6+ years because her family was moving and could not bring her along. She lived with kids in her past home and was great with them. Minnie also is friendly toward cats but we feel she would do best as the solo dog in the home. She was an indoor dog who was not crated in her prior home and was reportedly well-behaved in their house. She also walks pretty well on leash. Minnie was adopted a few months ago but recently surrendered at another shelter and then transferred back to the ARL. There was no specific reason given for the surrender but those owners did describe her as a 'loving, wonderful dog' and had no behavior issues …

This cute girl is looking for a new home.
This adorable girl is in need of a new home and currently is living with the Hello Bully family. Isis' previous owner recently died of cancer. Hello Bully is an organization based in Pittsburgh that works to rehabilitate the image of the pit bull, while also aiding in rescue missions. Here's what Hello Bully has to say about Isis: "Earlier this year, we were contacted about a pit bull in need. Isis had a home—her owner Dave was battling cancer and living in a home hospice care situation. Dave wanted to be sure Isis would have somewhere safe to go when the time came. In mid-April, we drove to Mt. Washington to meet Dave and Isis. Dave told us on the phone that he was so happy we were going to do what we could to help him. He said it gave …

The observance on June 22 celebrates dogs as companions and encourages their adoption.
For those of us with pets who work at Patch, every day is Take Your Dog (or Cat) to Work Day. We are lucky enough to do a bulk of our work from home, meaning more time to spend with our dogs and cats. Our pets share our home offices with us, sometimes curling up near the computers on our desks and, other times, flipping our hands off the keyboards in an effort to get us to pay attention to them. That's one reason we try to help our readers find their lost pets and run stories in hopes of finding forever homes for dogs and cats in local shelters. So, did you take your dog to work on Friday? If so, upload a photo to share with us. We'd love to see it! First celebrated in 1999, Pet Sitters International's Take Your Dog To Work Day was created…

Tammy is a playful 3 year old pittie mix who came in to the Animal Rescue League as a stray. With her sweet face and friendly personality, she quickly made a lot of friends among the volunteers and staff. Tammy rides well in the car, loves to play, and gives lots of kisses. She responds to 'sit' and walks decently on leash. She gets along well with other dogs and just loves people. Tammy recently had the honor of appearing on the Pittsburgh Today Live show on KDKA-TV | CBS Pittsburgh during a broadcast about an ARL fundraiser event. She was totally at ease in front of the camera, happily chewing on her stuffed toy. She also made a special appearance at the recent Mutters Day Canine Fashion show held at the Priory Hotel. Here, she calmly …
