The Allegheny County Department of Human Services' Project Prom Shop will again make available free prom dresses to eligible high school girls who find the cost of a prom outfit to be not within their families' budgets. In addition, young men who are or whose families are currently receiving services through that county department are invited to participate in Project Prom 2013 for Gentlemen. The girls event will take place on the third floor of Century III Mall in West Mifflin Borough from Monday, March 11, through Thursday, March 14, from 3 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, March 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The boys event takes place in the Human Services Building at One Smithfield Street in downtown Pittsburgh from 5 to 8 p.m. on every Thursday…

Dormont Elementary School will present the musical twice today, Thursday, Dec. 13.
Students from Dormont Elementary School will present a classic Christmas tale twice today, Thursday, Dec. 13. The first show of "Yes, Virginia: The Musical" is at 9:30 a.m. If you can't make the morning performace, the play runs again this evening at 7 p.m. The musical is based on the story "Yes Virginia, There is a Santa Claus," and is being produced at the elementary school with help from a Macy's Believe Program Grant. The elementary school will present the beloved Christmas tale on Thursday evening.
In 1897, 8-year-old Virginia O'Hanlon wrote a letter to the New York Sun newspaper asking a simple question: Is there a Santa Claus? The editor's answer—"Yes Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus"—has been told and retold in storybooks and cartoons, and now Dormont Elementary School will present the live-action play. "Yes Virginia: The Musical" will run at 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13 at Dormont Elementary School. Dormont Elementary was one of 100 schools across the nation that received a $1,000 grant from Macy's to help with the production costs of putting on the play.
