New Stops Added to KO Activity Bus Route

The new stops are along Hillsdale and Kelton avenues.

For those with students in after-school activities, the Keystone Oaks School District has added four new stops to the after-school activity bus routes. The buses will now make stops at the following locations: The activity bus, which was cancelled and then reinstated earlier this year, runs at 4 p.m. and the athletic bus runs at 5:15 p.m. Follow Dormont-Brookline Patch on Facebook and Twitter. Dormont Resident Talks About Flooding Issue

Flooding is common in Dormont, and is affecting one neighborhood in particular. Now, the borough is looking into what can be done.

Dormont Borough is considering options for curbing a water problem affecting residents on Kelton Avenue. Residents living in and near the 1200 block of Kelton Avenue attended recent council meetings, sharing concerns about flooding that is causing major property damage. Cars have been flooded and ruined, garage doors destroyed, documents and valuables damaged when inches of water have ended up in basements, the residents explained. Some said they had been living with the issue for decades, and had come to council meetings years ago, with little result. Resident Lauren Shuty's property was recently one of the worst hit. Shuty has lived on Kelton for seven years, and said a storm drain and three-foot wall at the back of her property normally…

Widespread Vehicle Vandalism In Dormont

Dormont police say no pattern to recent vandalism spree.

A weekend vandalism spree in Dormont Borough left 26 vehicles with broken or missing side mirrors and paint damage. Police say it’s one of the most widespread vandalism incidents of this type to occur in the borough in the past 20 years, and there doesn’t seem to have been a pattern to where the recent incidents occurred. Vandalism was reported in the 2700 block of Broadway Avenue on both sides of the Port Authority tracks, in the 1200 block of Mississippi Avenue, in the 3000 block of Dellwood Avenue and in the 1100 block of Kelton Avenue. “Those are just the ones that were reported or observed,” officer Don Kelly said. “That’s based on what was called in, or what the police saw when they went out.” The spree occurred between Saturday …
