Two boys were injured in the incident, KDKA reports.
Two teenage boys were injured in a pedestrian accident Monday near McDonald's Restaurant on West Liberty Avenue, according to a report by KDKA. KDKA reported that one of the boys was walking along the edge of the sidewalk when he lost his balance and grabbed another boy for support. They both fell into the street, and were struck by a car. The severity of the injuries is unknown, and the driver has not been charged at this time, according to a police report obtained by KDKA. To read the full report from KDKA, click here. 2-year-old Maddox Derkosh of Whitehall was killed in early November.
The Allegheny County District Attorney's Office will not pursue criminal charges against Elizabeth Derkosh, the mother of the late Maddox Derkosh, who was killed in a tragic mauling accident at the Pittsburgh Zoo in early November. However, according to KDKA, District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. is investigating a possible criminal negligence charge against the zoo. Elizabeth and 2-year-old Maddox, both of Whitehall Borough's Highgrove Road, were visiting the zoo on Nov. 4 when Maddox fell from the top of a platform railing to the ground inside of the pit area of an African painted dogs exhibit, according to a statement from the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police. The Keystone Oaks competition in Hometown High Q will air this Saturday.
If you missed Keystone Oaks on Hometown High Q last week, you'll have a second chance to see the team compete this Saturday. Keystone Oaks competed against Montour and Laurel Highlands. The episode will air Nov. 10 at 11:30 a.m. on KDKA TV2. The three team members, all high school seniors, are Viabhav Sharma, Brandon Bachner (captain) and Sami Fisher. The community is invited to attend the Hometown High Q taping at KDKA studios this Saturday.
Keystone Oaks students will test their brains at Saturday's taping of Hometown High Q, and the community is invited to come out and cheer them on. The Keystone Oaks team will compete against Montour and Laurel Highlands this Saturday, Sept. 29. Those who want to attend the taping should arrive by noon at KDKA TV studios in One Gateway Center in downtown Pittsburgh. Admission is free. Sad to hear. I've seen kids do some really reckless things in that area, e.g., running through traffic, horseplay, etc. The KDKA article says, "However, two boys were just off the sidewalk when one lost his balance." Meaning the two boys were walking in the street! I've seen this often as well. Car dealership employees are notorious for doing these things too! Drives me crazy...   more ›
