Jacqueline’s Salon Moving Downtown

Owner Jacqueline Capatolla said she’s looking for a new beginning.

After 18 years on Brookline Boulevard, Jacqueline’s Salon is moving out of town. Salon owner Jacqueline Capatolla said she has decided to combine the Brookline Boulevard salon with her second salon in Downtown Pittsburgh, located at 310 Grant Street, and work only out of the Grant Street location. “This is really hard. I’ve been doing some crying this week,” Capatolla said. “I’ve been here for 18 years and it’s really a special place to me. I just feel like it’s time.” Capatolla said timing played a big part in her decision. She said her Grant Street salon has taken off over the past two years, and it made her consider improvements she wanted to make at the Brookline salon. But in Brookline, two employees retired this year and she would …

This is definitely sad news. Fortunately, Jacqueline's isn't closing completely, she is just consolidating her two salons (unfortunately, it takes her off of the Boulevard). 'Jacqueline's Salon' Owner Publishes Book

She also opened a second location on Grant Street a …

Dormont, Brookline Business Owners Win Awards

Cassandra Gillen and Jacqueline Capatolla were recipients of WSBA awards in April.

The Women’s Small Business Association has named two local women among its top women business owners of 2012. Cassandra Gillen, owner of Cassandra’s Florals on West Liberty Avenue in Dormont, was named the 2012 WSBA Woman of the Year. Jacqueline Capatolla, owner of Jacqueline’s House of Beauty on Brookline Boulevard in Brookline, was named the 2012 WSBA Best Business Woman in Pittsburgh. Although the awards were different, the criteria was similar – both required business owners to show professionalism and quality in their own business, as well as support to their communities and to other local businesses. Owning a small business is hard work, the women said, but the “giving” part of the job seems to come easily to both. Capatolla has …
