Happy Homecoming Weekend, Golden Eagles! Here's your homecoming schedule.
It's Homecoming Weekend at Keystone Oaks! The festivities kick off today, Friday, with a parade from Dormont Elementary School to Dormont Memorial Stadium for a football game against South Park High School. The parade starts at 6 p.m. From Dormont Elementary, it will proceed down Annapolis Avenue to Kelton Avenue, the to Hillsdale Avenue and to the stadium. The parade will include the Keystone Oaks High School marching band, Kaydeens and color guard; the varsity cheerleading squad; the Keystone Young Marines; Keystone Oaks Area (KOA) football and cheerleading; the Eagles Twirling Corps, and representatives from Dormont, Green Tree and Castle Shannon boroughs. The marching band will host the festival at Dormont Memorial Stadium.
There will be music in the air this Saturday as the Keystone Oaks Golden Eagle Marching Band hosts a Festival of Bands. The festival, sponsored by the Keystone Oaks band and Keystone Oaks Parent Society, will be held at Dormont Memorial Stadium at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22. The event is a fundraiser for KOPS, and proceeds will benefit the band students. In addition to great music by local high school marching bands, concessions, a silent auction and a bake sale will be available and other items will be sold. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at the gate. Free parking is available at the Dormont pool parking lot and at Dormont Elementary School. On Saturday, all of Dormont's youth can become Olympians. Dormont Athletic Boosters Association and the Dormont Recreation Department will hold the Dormont Jr. Olympics for children between ages 6 and 12. Registration is at 9 a.m. at Dormont Memorial Stadium. Several events will be held at the stadium, including the Baseball Throw, Football Kick, Long Jump and Obstacle Course. At 11 a.m., the fun continues at Dormont Pool. Participants will be admitted to the pool free of charge. Parents and other guests will be charged $3 each.
