The annual Dormont Volunteer Fire Department Christmas Parade kicked off the holiday events, followed by cartoons and hot chocolate at Dormont's Hollywood Theater. Christmas comes early to Dormont with a day-long holiday celebration in the borough this Saturday. The day kicks off with the annual Dormont Volunteer Fire Department Christmas Parade, which starts at 10 a.m. The parade route will follow Scott Road to West Liberty Avenue, then onto Potomac Avenue. Local fire departments, marching bands, boy and girl scouts, students from Dormont Elementary and—of course—Santa will be in the parade. Peermont Avenue will be closed to traffic at 8:30 a.m. for parade line up. Following the parade, Dormont's Hollywood Theater will host a free matinee of kid-friendly cartoons.
