Thursday morning Seton LaSalle High School students will view the dramatic aftermath of an alcohol-involved car crash, according to The Almanac. The mock accident will be put on by police from Mt. Lebanon, Castle Shannon and Dormont, the Mt. Lebanon Fire Department, Medical Rescue Team South, LifeFlight and the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office to teach the students about unsafe driving practices. The presentation is part of Mt. Lebanon police department's "Survival 101" and is sponsored by the Students Against Destructive Decisions at Keystone Oaks and Seton LaSalle High schools, according to the newspaper.

A Dormont police sergeant was injured while responding to a call with several other police departments on New Year’s Day.
A Dormont police officer was injured while arresting a man who was wanted by three local police departments early on New Year’s Day. Castle Shannon police issued a warrant for Jerome Coulehan, 52, of Castle Shannon, following a domestic incident. According to the police report, Coulehan had left the scene of the incident and was driving a car he did not have permission to drive. Police said Coulehan was involved in a car accident in Mt. Lebanon before driving to a home in the 1500 block of Dormont Avenue, where he was arrested by Dormont police just before 6 a.m. During the arrest, police said, Coulehan tried to drive away from the officers, and hit Sgt. Castle Shannon Police are investigating a burglary that occurred in an occupied home Tuesday night. The burglar gained entry to the home—located on Sixth Street, near the Whitehall Borough border—though an unlocked rear kitchen window. Cash was stolen from a purse left on the kitchen table. Castle Shannon Police urge residents to lock doors and windows when leaving the house and when going to bed at night. Anyone witnessing or hearing suspicious people, vehicles or activity should call 9-1-1 for immediate police response. Allegheny County Police are assisting with the investigations. WTAE is reporting that Verna Hreha, 82, of Jefferson Hills, was found Wednesday evening during a traffic stop in Castle Shannon. Hreha, who had been reported missing, was seen Tuesday afternoon at a business in Bethel Park. She was last seen in Swissvale early Wednesday morning, asking for directions. According to WTAE, police officers in Castle Shannon pulled over Hreha's silver Hyundai Elantra after receiving reports of an erratic driver on Route 88.
