This Sunday, Mt. Lebanon resident Ellese Meyer will be featured on ABC's "Everyday Health," which runs on WTAE at 12 p.m. "Everyday Health" profiles people who are either facing a health crisis or are close to someone facing a life-altering health event. All of the people profiled have chosen to help people in similar situations. Each program addresses a medical condition, sometimes includes a celebrity guest and always provides a surprise reveal for the person profiled. Ellese Myer was chosen for the show because three years ago after her mother died from breast cancer, she approached John Grogan, Mt. Lebanon's athletic director, and asked if she could organize a PINK OUT. As a senior in high school and a cheerleader, she was looking …

The varsity football team is doing the same for its Oct. 21 home game. And at tonight's 7:30 home game against Steel Valley, the Lady Eagles soccer team gets its turn to be "pretty (and tough) in pink." Admission is free to all KO fans. The Allegheny County Courthouse fountain began flowing pink at 11 a.m. Friday to mark the start of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. "Everyone knows someone affected by this disease," said Allegheny County Treasurer John Weinstein. "If turning this fountain pink makes one woman in Allegheny County get a mammogram, we have succeeded," he said. The annual tradition is in its seventh year, said Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato. He said the county's role in helping spread awareness was important because the more the public was educated, the better the odds that the disease can be controlled. "This is one of the few illnesses that if detected early is 100 percent curable," he said. About one in eight woman in the United States will …
