If you found a plastic bag at your door last Saturday—some with the Kuhn's Market logo—it was just part of the preparation for this year's Scouting for Food event. This Saturday, April 13, Cub Scout Pack 870 and Boy Scout Troop 23 will be walking through Dormont, collecting donations as part of the Scouting for Food Drive they sponsor each year. On April 6, the scouts placed plastic bags on residents' doors (and when they ran out of bags, scout leaders said Kuhn's generously filled in the deficit). Dormont Boy Scout Troop 23 is inviting the community to dinner. Troop 23's biggest fundraiser of the year, a spaghetti dinner at Dormont United Methodist Church, is on Jan. 19. The dinner will be held at the church from 4 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for kids age 12 and younger. Dinner includes spaghetti with a choice of sauce, salad, bread and butter, drinks, and dessert. Have a few extra canned goods in the cupboards? Two local groups will be “Scouting for Food” this weekend in Dormont. Cub Scout Pack 870 in Dormont will collaborate with Boy Scout Troop 23 this weekend to collect food for those in need in the community. The Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts will place plastic bags on doors throughout Dormont Borough this Saturday morning, April 7, and will return next week on April 14 to pick them up. Residents can fill the bags with items to donate, and leave the bags on the edge of their porches, in view from the street, for pickup before 9 a.m. on April 14. Looking for a place to get Italian food this Saturday night? Boy Scout Troop 23 will host a classic Italian spaghetti dinner—complete with candlelight and red-and-white checkered tablecloths—at Dormont United Methodist Church from 4 to 8 p.m. The price is $6 for adults and $4 for children, and includes spaghetti with a choice of sauce, bread and butter, salad and a drink—and tasty homemade desserts.
