Baldwin High School takes top honor at the Gene Kelly Awards for "Curtains."
Baldwin High School took home a Gene Kelly Award for "Best Musical, Budget Level III" for its production of the musical mystery comedy, "Curtains." Pittsburgh CLO and the University of Pittsburgh presented the 22nd annual Gene Kelly Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theater Saturday night. The event, held at the Benedum Center in downtown Pittsburgh, selected performers from 32 participating high schools that produced a spring musical. The award, named for iconic Hollywood movie star and Pittsburgh native Gene Kelly, was given to promote excellence in high school musical theatre. Rich Wright is one of four inductees this year into the Pittsburgh Running Hall of Fame.
Already a legend to many, Rich Wright—a Keystone Oaks alum who is now Baldwin High School's head boys cross country coach and an assistant for Baldwin's girls cross country and boys and girls indoor and outdoor track & field teams—is officially a Hall-of-Famer. The venerable coach has been inducted into the Pittsburgh Running Hall of Fame. Organized by Pittsburgh Marathon officials, Wright, who lives on Baldwin Borough's Elmwood Drive, is one four members of the Hall's 2012 class, which also includes Kevin Gatons, Joe Sarver and Gary Siriano. Wright, 60, is a 1970 graduate of Keystone Oaks High School who is being inducted as a contributor to the sport in southwestern Pennsylvania.
