Four Arrested for Heroin Possession in Banksville

Brookline, Beechview police blotter, Feb. 18 to Feb. 24.

Pittsburgh police arrested four people, including one juvenile, in Banksville last week for possession of heroin. The arrests were made Feb. 19 in the 2800 block of Banksville Road. Narcotics detectives arrested Anthony Dorsey of the Hill District, Erin Proctor of Baldwin, and a juvenile male, who each were charged with possession with the intent to deliver. According to the police report, a Wilkinsburg man also was arrested and charged, but the court docket for those charges was not available as of Tuesday morning. As for the heroin thing, that's also, unfortunately, a problem everywhere. It still blows my mind that it's cheaper than marijuana these days--that's why it's become such an epidemic. How is a drug that takes so much time and effort to obtain, refine, and process cheaper than a plant people can grow in their basement with sun lamps??   more ›

Three Arrested for Drug Possession

Brookline, Beechview police blotter, Feb. 4 to Feb. 10.

Three men, one of whom is a juvenile, were arrested Feb. 6 for drug-related charges in the 1500 block of Rockland Avenue in Beechview. Narcotics detectives arrested the juvenile male for possession with the intent to deliver marijuana, heroin and cocaine. Darian Simpkins of Munhall also was arrested for possession with the intent to deliver cocaine. Darrell Powell of Brookline was arrested for possession of marijuana. Drug Charges Filed After Police Respond to Apartment Fire

Dormont police blotter, Feb. 1 to Feb. 8.

Dormont police were dispatched with the Dormont Volunteer Fire Department to an apartment fire in the 3000 block of West Liberty Avenue on Feb. 7. Police Sgt. James Briglia said once inside the apartment, police found drug paraphernalia, scales, and marijuana. Michael Curtin, 24, of Dormont, was charged with possession and possession with intent to deliver, according to court records. Briglia said Curtin was charged by summons.  Briglia said the fire was started by an unattended candle. There were no injuries in the fire, and minor damage to the apartment. Pgh Police Looking for Men Involved in Robbery

Brookline, Beechview police blotter, Jan. 28 to Feb. 3.

Pittsburgh police are looking for two men involved in a robbery reported in Beechview on Feb. 3. According to the police report, the victim told police a man came to his residence in the 1600 block of Methyl Street at 3:15 p.m. to sell him electronics. At one point, the man left the home, and then came back inside with a second man. One of the men allegedly pulled out a gun and demanded money from the victim. Police said there was a struggle over the gun, the victim was robbed of a wallet and cell phone. The two men fled in a red or maroon-colored vehicle. The first man is described as a black male, between 25 and 35 years old, weighing 160lbs and 5'8" with a thin build and dark complexion. The second man is described as a black male, …

This early week I observed a new updated vehicle patching asphalt 1500 block of Broadway. Two men in vehicles. One worker ahead with flag and bucket. New pickup with two workers riding in four cab pickup and a worker walking behind the entourage. It was pretty impressive. Police Investigating CVS Robbery

Dormont Blotter Jan. 11 to Jan. 18.

Dormont police are investigating a “snatch-and-grab” robbery at CVS Pharmacy on West Liberty Avenue. According to the police report, a man walked into CVS Pharmacy at 8:23 p.m. on Jan. 15, stole cartons of cigarettes valuing $240, and ran from the store. The man is described as a white male about six feet tall. Police were able to get surveillance video from the store, and are investigating the incident. No arrests had been made, as of Friday, Jan. 18. Brookline Man Arrested for Assaulting Officers

Brookline, Beechview police blotter, Jan. 7 to Jan. 13.

A Brookline man was arrested after police say he assaulted four officers and was found to be in possession of drugs. According to a report by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, police were investigating Dominic Demarco, 48, of Brookline, and were waiting for him to pick up a package containing a large quantity of marijuana in the 1800 block of Plainview Avenue on Jan. 9. When Demarco arrived and picked up the package around 2:40 p.m., an officer identified himself, and Demarco then got back in his car and drove toward the officers, according to the Post-Gazette. I agree with you Gary, but have mixed feelings because so many people do it, it's impossible to completely get rid of it. What can you do? Sure you can put them in jail but then like 75% of people would be in jail and the rest of us wouldn't be able to afford to pay to keep them there. Dormont Man Arrested on Drug, Conduct Charges

Dormont blotter, Dec. 28 to Jan. 4.

A man was arrested on numerous charges after he first called the police for assistance, then allegedly refused to let them help.  According to the report by Dormont police, Austin Deaver, 27, of Dormont called police at 12:15 a.m. on Jan. 1 and reported that his girlfriend was unconscious at his apartment in the 3200 block of West Liberty Avenue and needed help. Police said when they arrived at the apartment, they found a bong-type device. At that point, according to the police report, Deaver told the police to leave the apartment and attempted to physically stop the police from getting to the woman. Deaver was charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstructing …
