A Beechview man was arrested twice last week, in two separate incidents. Pittsburgh police responded to Carnegie Library on Brookline Boulevard on April 25 at 12:15 p.m. for a report of a man who appeared to be intoxicated, sleeping on a couch in the library. Police awakened the man—identified as Joshua Riley, 24, of Beechview—and found drugs and drug paraphernalia in his possession. According to the report from Pittsburgh police, officers recovered seven stamp bags of heroin, 11 pills and a hypodermic needle. Riley was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. A preliminary hearing on these charges is scheduled for May 29 before Judge Donna Jo McDaniel. Riley also was arrested …

Dormont police blotter, Jan. 18 to Jan 25.
Dormont police have charged a Pittsburgh man for a robbery last week at the CVS Pharmacy on West Liberty Avenue. Sherman Jones, 35, with a last-known address in the City of Pittsburgh, was charged with retail theft. Police said he stole $240 worth of cigarettes from CVS in a smash-and-grab-type robbery. Dormont Sgt. Jim Briglia said the Dormont police were able to work with police in McCandless Township to find Jones. According to the police report, McCandless Township police informed Dormont police earlier this week that Jones had been arrested for committing a similar robbery at a CVS Pharmacy in the North Hills area. Jones already was being held in Allegheny County Jail on those charges, and was given notice of the additional charges …

The following information was supplied by Dormont Police. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. Dormont police are looking for a man who allegedly robbed CoGo's on Potomac Avenue on Aug. 5. According to the police report, a white man dressed in a baseball hat, shorts and a t-shirt ran into the store just before 4 a.m., stuffed his pockets with a number of items and fled the store in a tan-colored sedan. The man was with two other men, who reportedly did not steal anything from the store. The other men were described as a black male, and a white male who had the Pittsburgh Pirates "P" logo tattooed on his face. Raymond Jeffrey Walsh of Brookline was arrested and charged with criminal trespass.
Raymond Jeffrey Walsh, 50, of Brookline, was charged with criminal trespass after Pittsburgh police arrested him Sunday for a burglary in Brookline. According to a city-wide alert posted Tuesday, police responded on Jan. 1 to a report of a burglary in progress in the 1400 block of Bellaire Place. A woman told police she received an electronic alert that there was movement inside her home, including a photo of the intruder. Based on the photo, police determined that the intruder was Walsh, who lives in the neighborhood. He was arrested in the 1400 block of Milan Avenue, charged with criminal trespass and taken to Allegheny County Jail.
