Skolnicki Pitches First Career No-Hitter, KO Beats Slippery Rock

The Golden Eagles baseball team will move to Round 2 of the state baseball tournament this week after a win in the first round on Monday.

Keystone Oaks defeated Slippery Rock 4-0 in the first round of the PIAA Class AAA baseball tournament Monday afternoon at Jerry Uht Park in Erie. The win was KO's first PIAA Tournament win in the program's 48-year history.

Senior pitcher Jared Skolnicki pitched his first career no-hitter on Monday, walking three batters and striking out 11 to help the team win. Skolnicki has signed a letter of intent with Kent State University and will attend this fall.

Keystone Oaks will face undefeated WPIAL Class AAA champion South Park (25-0) on Thursday, June 6, at Boyce-Mayview Park in Upper St. Clair at 1:30 p.m.

The two teams last played in the WPIAL semifinals on May 21, and South Park defeated the Golden Eagles 1-0.
