Play Ball! Miracle League of the South Hills Begins Saturday

Former MLB All-Star Sean Casey and Pirates Charities bring baseball to children with special needs.

On Saturday, May 26, Casey’s Clubhouse and the Pirates Charities will host opening day festivities and the inaugural games played at the .

Sean and Mandi Casey, of Upper St. Clair, in the summer of 2010 with the goal of building a Miracle League Field for children with special needs in the South Hills of Pittsburgh.

With the help of Pirates Charities, the organization needed for the construction of a custom-designed, rubberized field that will allow children of all abilities to play baseball. In addition to the field, the complex features wheelchair accessible dugouts, restrooms and a specially designed playground for the entire community to enjoy.

The field is located in Boyce Mayview Park next to Upper St. Clair's .

In addition, Sean Casey will be featured at the Washington Wild Things game on Friday, May 25, as part of Legends Week. Casey will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and sign autographs. The game will begin at 7:05 p.m. and fireworks are planned after the game.
