Golden Eagles Defeat Colts, Advance to Semi-Finals

Keystone Oaks defeated Chartiers Valley yesterday, and will advance to the WPIAL semi-finals for the first time in the school's history.

UPDATE (May 16, 10 a.m.): The KO varsity boys baseball team will play their WPIAL AAA semi final baseball game on Tuesday, May 21 at 4 p.m. against South Park. The game will be in Upper St. Clair at the Boyce Mayview Field (1551 Mayview Rd, Upper St Clair, PA  (USC Community & Recreation Center ).

The Keystone Oaks Golden Eagles baseball team has advanced to the WPIAL semi-finals after a win Wednesday against the Chartiers Valley Colts.

The 2013 Section 3 Champions defeated the Colts in the second round of WPIAL Playoffs with a score of 4-3.

Junior Taylor Lehman got the win on the mound by giving 5 strong innings and striking out 6. Junior John Beveridge came in and shut the door for the save. Senior shortstop Ryan Rosato got the big hit for the Golden Eagles by driving in two runs with a single in the 4th inning with 2 outs after Senior centerfielder Erik Fawcett executed a perfect sacrifice bunt. Rosato was also involved in the biggest play of the game when he delivered a perfect strike to Senior catcher Ryan Ribeau to prevent the tying run from scoring in the 7th inning. Beveridge struck out the final batter and with that the Golden Eagles advance to the semifinals against South Park. Thank you to all the fans who came out to support us. Keystone Oaks communications director Jim Cromie said this is the first time in the school's history that the team has advanced to the semi-final round.

Cromie said the team likely will play South Park—a team that currently is undefeated—on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.
