Crimone Reflects on KO Baseball Season, Looks Forward to Next Year

After the program's best-ever season, coach Scott Crimone said he's proud of his team and looking forward next season.

A playoff loss—especially during a team’s most successful season of all time—is nothing to be upset about.

The 2012-13 Keystone Oaks Golden Eagle baseball team made it further than any team in the organization’s 48-year history, a feat coach Scott Crimone is impressive in itself.

“This was the most successful of all time, so I think that’s the biggest point there,” he said. “It was a testament to what 18 men can do when they set their mind to something.”

The team would have loved to win at the state level and the loss against Upper Moreland was heartbreaking, but Crimone said that hasn’t stopped him from being overwhelmingly proud of his team.

“It’s actually hard to put into words,” he said. “These boys never waivered. They never let anything bother them. They were extremely coachable, and a group of good young men. It’s been an extreme pleasure to work with them.”

Crimone said that with nine seniors graduating this year, next year will be a rebuilding season for the team. Six players are returning next season and members of the junior varsity team are moving up, and Crimone said he’s looking at freshmen talent for next year as well.

“It will be a different-looking lineup,” Crimone said. “Six are coming back, but we need a big youth movement. It will be really interesting to look at some of the freshmen talent. There’s also a couple guys moving up from JV who will be called upon to make a big impact, so I think they’re really going to lead the way and keep the torch lit.”
