Scholarships Available for KO Students

Here are 18 scholarships available to Keystone Oaks students.

It’s a new month, and there are plenty of new scholarships available for students —especially seniors—as they prepare for the future.

For more information on any of the below scholarships, students should contact the Keystone Oaks High School guidance office.

  • The Keynotes of Music for Mt. Lebanon: This scholarship is for any senior who will be majoring in music in college.  Applications are in the guidance office.  Deadline to apply is April 15, 2012.
  • The Keystone Oaks Education Association: – The Future Teacher Scholarship Award is for eligible seniors planning to major in education in college.  Applications are in the guidance office.  Deadline to apply is April 2, 2012.
  • Robert C. Edwards Scholarship Foundation: – This scholarship is for graduating seniors that live in a borough.  Details and applications are in the guidance office.  Deadline to apply is May 4, 2012.
  • Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation: This scholarship is for a graduating senior who is interested in the history, architecture and/or landscape design of the Pittsburgh region.  Eligible students must be a full time college student in the fall of 2012.  For details see  www.phlf.org/education-department/scholarships.  Deadline to apply is April 27, 2012.
  • Student Insights: This scholarship contest is for high school seniors.  To apply, log on to www.student-view.com and complete a 15-minute application survey about colleges in your area.  The scholarship will be awarded in a random drawing.  The scholarship winner will be announced in May 2012.  Deadline to apply is April 22, 2012.
  • UPMC Sports Medicine: The “2012 Freddie Fu” Sports Medicine Scholarship Program is for students entering their senior year in September 2012 who are interested in a career in Sports Medicine. Applicants should submit two letters of recommendation and a completed guidance counselor form.  Apply online at SportsMedScholarship@upmc.edu.  Deadline to apply is April 21, 2012.
  • Edinboro University: – The school is sponsoring the Northwestern Pennsylvania High School Journalism Competition.  All 11th & 12th grade students with an interest in print journalism, broadcast journalism and photo journalism are eligible applicants.  Cash prizes will be awarded.  Applicants must enter their work from one of these categories.  Deadline to apply is March 14, 2012.  For details, contact mgibson@edinboro.edu or 1-814-732-1592.
  • Audubon Society: – The Beulah Frey Environmental Scholarship is available.  To apply, see www.aswp.org.  Deadline to apply is March 31, 2012.
  • The Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship: The scholarship is for students that will attend any college.  To apply, see www.gkscholarships.com.
  • The College Jump Start Scholarship: This scholarship is for students that will attend any college.  To apply, see www.jumpstart-scholarship.net.
  • Constance T. Rockwell Scholarship for Theater Arts: Eligible students must plan on attending a college and majoring in theater arts.  These scholarships are awarded to seniors who are current participants in the 2012 Pittsburgh CLO Gene Kelly Award.  Deadline to apply is April 6, 2012.  Applications are in the guidance office.  Details are at www.pittsburghclo.org/pages/scholarships-and-financial-and#clo-guild.
  • Ralph B. Canterbury Scholarship: Applications are in the guidance office.  Deadline to apply is March 31, 2012.
  • William and Mural Reynolds Moreland Scholarship: Eligible students must be graduating seniors who live in Dormont Borough and has shown a commitment to their community.
  • Gilda’s Club Teen Writing and Art Contest: Eligible students in grades 9-12 may submit personal writings and art work.  Deadline to apply is March 9, 2012.
  • Phi Sigma Pi:  A $300 scholarship is available for graduating seniors.  Eligible students must have a 3.0 grade point average and plan to continue their education at a college or university.  Deadline to apply is April 6, 2012.  Applications are in the guidance office.
  • American Association of Drilling Engineers: Twenty $1,000 scholarships are available. For an application, see www.aade.org/appalachian.
  • Pennsylvania Land Surveyors’ Scholarship: Eligible students will be pursuing a degree in science or an associate degree in land surveying.  Details and applications are in the guidance office.  Deadline to apply is March 15, 2012.
  • Pennsylvania Association of Medical Suppliers: A $1,000 scholarship to a deserving student who has overcome physical challenges with the help of home medical equipment and supplies.  Applicant must be a high school senior who plans on a post-high school education.  Application is in the guidance office.
