Pgh Schools Shift Employees at Brashear

A number of Pittsburgh Public School teachers were laid off this year, and the district shifted many other teachers between the schools.

About a third of school-based employees working in the Pittsburgh Public School District during the 2011-12 school year have been laid off, reassigned to another school, or have retired or resigned, according to Thursday's report from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

The school board voted last week to approve transfers of 611 employees, including teachers and adjuncts, social workers, paraprofessionals, administators and others. The district's 2012-13 school year began Wednesday.

A total of 13 teachers from Pittsburgh Brashear High School were transferred to other schools, while 25 teachers from other schools were transferred into Brashear.
