KO School Board Reorganizes

New board members took their seats at last Wednesday's meeting.

When the Keystone Oaks School Board reorganized last Wednesday, several board members took seats for the first time, while other members found themselves in new roles.

Four of the nine school board members are new to the board. Those members are Lisa Cancelliere of Castle Shannon, Joe Finucan of Dormont, and Dan Domalik and David Hommrich of Green Tree. They join five sitting board members: Gary Alward of Green Tree, Raeann Lindsey and Marian Randazzo of Castle Shannon, and Thomas Nee and Robert Brownlee of Dormont.

Alward was named school board president and Lindsey was named vice president. Both have served on the school board since 2009.

Domalik was appointed to fill the remaining term of the position of treasurer. The position was open due to a vacancy, and the term ends in July of 2012.

Due to the number of new board members and the number of committee seats that need to be filled, the board decided to fill other committee seats at the next regular meeting.

The Right to Know officer also will be appointed at the next meeting. Until then, requests should be sent to the school district to the attention of “Right to Know Officer.” Requests will be handled by the administration until an officer is appointed.

The school board will hold a special meeting Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. to discuss the budget.

The next regular meeting will be Jan. 19.
