KO Names New Principal at Aiken

Mark Iampietro has been hired as principal at Aiken Elementary.

in Green Tree has a new principal.

The has hired Mark Iampietro to replace Bobbi Ann Barnes, who will now serve as principal at .

, who retired at the end of the 2011-12 school year.

Iampietro has been a learning support and classroom teacher in the Baldwin-Whitehall School District for seven years. Prior to that, he taught first grade for three years in the Mars Area School District.

"Aiken obviously has a great reputation and I'm looking forward to working making connections with the members of that community, including our students, and of course the staff," Iampietro said in a statement released by the district on Monday. "I'm looking forward to having a great year."

Iampietro has a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from California University of Pennsylvania. He also has a master’s of arts in teaching from Chatham University, and a master's of Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University including his principal's certification. His other certifications include Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Reading Specialist, and Special Education.

His hiring will be finalized at the Aug. 23 school board meeting, which will be held in the board room at Keystone Oaks High School at 7 p.m.
