Keystone Oaks Homecoming This Weekend

Celebration begins with a parade Friday at 6 p.m.

Keystone Oaks will kickoff its 2011 Homecoming celebration Friday, October 7 with a parade from Dormont Elementary to Dormont Memorial Stadium just before the Golden Eagles’ football game against South Fayette.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m., and will feature the high school marching band, Kaydeens, honor guard and color guard, the varsity cheerleading squad, the Keystone Young Marines, several community groups, Keystone Oaks Area (KOA) football and cheerleading, the Eagles Twirling Corps, as well as representatives from Castle Shannon, Dormont, and Green Tree

The parade route will begin in the Dormont Elementary School parking lot and will run down Annapolis Ave., before making a left onto Kelton Ave. From there it will move to Hillsdale Ave., and up into Dormont Memorial Stadium.

The pre-game festivities – which will include the coronation of this year's Homecoming king and queen – will begin at 6:30 p.m. The game kicks off at 7 p.m.

In 2006, as part of the district’s continuing effort to further intertwine the communities that comprise it, Keystone Oaks decided to reprise the old Dormont High School Homecoming tradition that dated back to the 1930’s when players, students, and fans  would walk hand in hand from Dormont High School (the current site of Dormont Elementary) to every home football game.
