Electronics Recycling Saturday at Keystone Oaks

Old electronic items piling up? Keystone Oaks is providing a way to get rid of them this Saturday.

The Keystone Oaks High School environment club is is partnering with Commonwealth Computer Recycling to sponsor a communitywide electronic recycling event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 16 in the Keystone Oaks Middle School parking lot, adjacent to McNeilly Road.

The event also serves as a fundraiser for the environment club as Commonwealth Computer Recycling donates money raised from the event to participating schools.

The group will also provide on-site hard drive data destruction at $10 per hard drive.

The program fits well with a new e-cycling law that took effect in Pennsylvania in January. The law requires that certain electronic items be recycled, rather than thrown away. The list of items includes all televisions and computer equipment, CPUs, laptops, printers, scanners, keyboards, mouses, speakers and any other devices that connect to a computer in a home or small business.
