Dormont Student's Story on Radio Saturday

Dormont second-grader Marlana Howard wrote a story that will air on several radio stations Saturday morning.

A second-grader's award-winning story will receive some radio air time today, Saturday.

Marlana Howard's paper, titled "Paris," won second place in the 2012 WQED & PBS KIDS Go! Writers Contest. The paper is about her goal of becoming a world famous fashion designer, and it was chosen from among 1,300 submissions throughout Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

WQED, in partnership with the Saturday Light Brigade radio network (SBL), recorded the winning stories, and Marlana's will air at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 9 on several stations throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio, including locally on WRCT Pittsburgh 88.3 F.M.

At a recent dinner celebrating the contest's winner, WQED Pittsburgh presented eight year-old Marlana with a certificate, a PBS KIDS GO! prize pack, and an autographed copy of a Michael Scotto book at the Fred Rogers Studio at WQED Multimedia.
