Aiken Principal Moves to Dormont Elementary

Bobbi Ann Barnes, Aiken Elementary principal, will move to the same position at Dormont Elementary.

students will see lots of new faces when they enter the school on Monday, and prominent among those faces will be that of their new principal.

Bobbi Ann Barnes, who has been the Aiken Elementary School principal for 12 years, will fill the position held by George Shevchik since 1996.

Barnes served as assistant principal at Dormont Elementary between 1998 and 2000, before becoming principal at Aiken.

Under her direction, and met Adequate Yearly Progress standards.

"I have a lot of existing relationships at Dormont Elementary from my time there in the late 90s and I'm looking forward to rekindling those relationships and and to developing new ones with the staff and families that I haven't met yet," Barnes said, in a statement released by the district Monday. "However, Aiken will always hold a special place in my heart and I will miss them dearly."
