Reps. Snyder and Molchany volunteer to stock trout

State Reps. Pam Snyder and Erin C. Molchany stocked trout Wednesday in Tenmile and Browns creeks in Greene and Washington counties along with members of the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, volunteers, and local anglers.  As part of the effort, 5-gallon buckets of fish and water were shuttled from tanks on hatchery trucks to various parts of the streams near Amity Ballpark, off of State Route 19.

“The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission plays a critical role in protecting and
preserving thousands of miles of streams and dozens of lakes in the commonwealth,” Snyder said. “I’m here because their hard work helps sustain a $1.5 billion economy that serves nearly 2 million sportsmen and supports 25,000 jobs across the state.”

This is the second trout stocking of the year at both creeks. The opening day
statewide for trout season was April 13. Many streams across the state are
replenished from Fish and Boat Commission hatcheries multiple times throughout
the year. The state will stock approximately 3.2 million trout this year.

Molchany said: “Trout fishing is a celebrated tradition in Pennsylvania for many men and women. Our streams, like our state parks and forests, are an asset that
better our quality of life and are a vital part of Pennsylvania that we should continue to protect and preserve. I went fishing a few times with my dad when I was much, much younger. Outdoor experiences like those aren’t easily forgotten.”

Complete information about trout season, rules and regulations, and schedules for other fish stocking opportunities can be found through links on the representatives’ websites and the Fish and Boat Commission website, www.fish.state.pa.us.
