Traffic Delays Likely This Weekend on Banksville Road

The PennDOT project will run from the City of Pittsburgh through Dormont to Mt. Lebanon.

Work to improve Banksville Road (Route 19) in the City of Pittsburgh, Mt. Lebanon Township and will continue this weekend, July 27-30, weather permitting.

Single lane traffic will occur from 8 p.m. on Friday through 6 a.m. on Monday on Banksville Road between Carnahan Road/Wenzel Avenue, according to Jim Struzzi, PennDOT District 11 spokesman. One lane will remain open in each direction.

Crews will be constructing mountable curbs in the center median. Side streets will remain open.

Motorists are advised to use caution and watch for changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area. Expect delays and allow extra time.

PennDOT is also reminding motorists to use all open lanes to the merge point. Be courteous to other motorists and allow them to merge. The effectiveness of traffic flow in highway work zones is highly dependent on driver behavior. Using all lanes and allowing a consistent, courteous merge will reduce congestion and delay and help traffic move through the work zone.

Overall work will conclude in December. The prime contractor is the Lane Construction Co. of Pittsburgh.
