Below is a list of agenda items that were approved at the Feb. 4 Dormont Council meeting:
- Software will be bought for the tax collector's office at a cost of $1,449 from Logi-Tek Solutions for fiscal year 2013, and $1,200 per year thereafter. Borough manager Jeff Naftal said the software is used in many nearby communities, including Castle Shannon. The cost includes training, support and annual updates.
- Automated time and attendance software will be purchased from Kronos at a cost of $35,475.20. The software will be used to track the attendance of borough employees. Naftal said currently, each department head is responsible for keeping track of employees' work hours, overtime pay, and vacation time by hand. Automating the system will allow for better accuracy, and will save the borough $15,000 per year, he said.
- A reserved accessible parking space was reserved for 2946 Glenmore Avenue for a period of six months.
- A Mohawk Lift with a 16,000-pound capacity and optional equipment will be bought for $19,109.96 from the State of Pennsylvania State Contract. Naftal said the American-made equipment came in under budget, and is being purchased as a safety measure for the borough employees who have to repair and maintain heavy machinery. There is a 25-year warranty on the solid parts, and a 10-year warranty on the moving parts, of the equipment.
- Council adopted a document of financial policies and procedures for the borough, to be followed by any borough employee or any volunteer for borough-sanctioned activities who must handle finances.
**Correction: The cost savings on the Kronos system will be $15,000 per year, not $50,000 as originally reported.
