Reminder: Port Authority Service Reductions Take Effect This Sunday

In case you forgot, your commuting schedule may change very soon.

UPDATE:

The Port Authority of Allegheny County board at midday adjourned a rowdy, crowded meeting in order to permit its drivers union to vote on a last-minute concession proposal aimed at staving off route cuts and layoffs.
 The drivers union submitted the proposal to the board this morning in an effort to postpone the cuts scheduled to take effect Sunday.

The board plans to reconvene at 3 p.m. tomorrow.  See Patch for updates.

Port Authority of Allegheny County's Board of Directors to move forward with a 15-percent service reduction to its routes and to lay off 180 employees.

The reduction is Port Authority's way of addressing a loss in state funding. The service changes take effect this Sunday, March 27.
