Regional Gang Awareness Conference Meets Wednesday in Cranberry

Hundreds of law enforcement members, school administrators, human service professionals, and community leaders from Western Pennsylvania will meet Wednesday to discuss violent crime and gang activity during the sixth annual Regional Gang Awareness Conference.

The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the on Cranberry Woods Drive in Cranberry Township.

The conference goal is to enhance partnerships that effectively combat gangs and to develop methods of information sharing and case development. This year’s speakers include:

• 8:30 a.m. Welcoming Remarks: David J. Hickton, U.S. Attorney, Michael Rodriguez, special agent in charge, FBI, Don Robinson, assistant special agent in charge, ATF.
• 8:45 a.m. Threat Assessment in Schools/The Final Report and Findings of the Safe School Initiative: Art Kelly, III, Safe Schools Initiative.
• 12:30 p.m. Lunch: Keynote Speaker Saleem Ghubril, executive director, Pittsburgh Promise.
• 1:30 p.m. Cyber Bullying: Keith Mularski, supervisory special agent, FBI.
• 2:45 p.m. Explosives Awareness: Bill Wojnar, assistant bomb squad commander, Allegheny County Police.

The Regional Gang Awareness Conference brings together federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies and community members in the fight against violent street crime. The conference is co-sponsored by: the United States Attorney’s Office, Project Safe Neighborhoods, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigations, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania.
