President Obama Announces U.S. Troops Will Leave Iraq by Year's End

President Barack Obama announced today that U.S. troops will leave Iraq by December, ending a war that has lasted for almost a decade.

"As a candidate for president, I pledged to bring the war in Iraq to a responsible end," Obama said in an article on Huffington Post. "So today I can report that, as promised, the rest of our troops in Iraq will come home by the end of the year."

"After nearly nine years, America's war in Iraq will be over," he said.
