Dormont Narrowing Borough Manager Choices

Dormont received more than 20 applications for the borough manager position. It's been narrowed down to six, and the list is getting shorter.

The list of candidates is narrowing, and should have a full-time, permanent borough manager by mid-July as expected.

Council President Bill McCartney said Monday that 22 applications were received, and that number has been narrowed down to six. A second round of interviews for those applicants will be held June 12 and 13.

“The candidates we’re talking to are local,” McCartney said. “Some are a little less than local, but they’re still in Western Pennsylvania.”

The second round of interviews will reduce the number of applicants to about two, at which time extensive background checks and calls to references will be made.

McCartney said the borough likely will hire an outside firm, as well as the borough’s police department, to assist with background checks.

“That should be done by end of June,” he said. “Then we will move to negotiating with one of those people for a compensation package, and hopefully have someone in place by mid July.”
