Dormont Council Approves Final Union Contract

Council approved the fourth and final union contract on Monday for borough employees.

Dormont Council on Monday approved the desk officers union contract, making this the first time in nearly 10 years that all of the borough’s union contracts were negotiated without going to arbitration.

“I can say that is truly an outstanding task, especially to be able to achieve that with four contracts,” said borough solicitor John Rushford.

Contracts for the police, laborers union, and teamsters union were approved and signed between September and December.

“I just want to congratulate Jeff for getting these contracts done,” said Councilwoman Onnie Costanzo. “The amount of money he’s saved with not having to pay legal fees … he just did an outstanding job.”

Contracts will not have to be renegotiated for three years.

Documents for all contracts are available on the Dormont Borough website. The contract for the desk officers, which was approved Monday, is attached to this article as a PDF document.
