Deasy Discusses New Employment Center

These are tough economic times for residents in my legislative district and all across Pennsylvania. The recession our nation has experienced has impacted many individuals’ ability to secure a job. As your state representative, I want to try and help those seeking employment.

With the Governor’s proposed budget and his proposed cuts to education, human services, the arts, and other programs, more individuals will be finding themselves unemployed. The proposed budget will ultimately result in more job seekers competing for any open position. Now, more than ever, job seekers are seeing greater competition when applying for a position. I believe that the Governor’s budget will only make that competition tougher.

I am committed to providing job seekers with the tools needed for a successful job search from start to finish. That is why I have launched an Employment Center Site. The Employment Center is now available via a link on my website (www.pahouse.com/deasy). The site includes information on preparing for the workforce, job training, job search and transportation services.

To further assist you with your job search, I will be launching the Employment Center kiosk in my constituent services office located at 436 S. Main Street. You can utilize the kiosk to browse the Employment Center any day during my office's normal business hours, and prepare your resume and other job search related materials.

In addition, I am partnering with the McKees Rocks Employment Training Center* to provide job search assistance. A member of the ETC staff will be available each Monday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. starting June 11 to assist job seekers in employment search efforts.
