Snapshots of primary day.

Chelsa Wagner, candidate for Allegheny County controller, was among the early voters on primary day at her Brookline polling place. She planned to visit other polls in Brookline and Beechview before traveling elsewhere in the county.

In Dormont, Democratic council opponents Onnie Costanzo and John Maggio shared the same polling spot before the day turned really rainy.

Sandy Anders, a constable helping at the Brookline Recreation Center poll, said turnout was very low. By around noon, she said, about 35 people had voted. "I need a cot," she said. She was hoping the pace picked up "because it makes the time go."

At the Dormont gym poll, Barbara Kramer, a judge of elections who's been working the polls for about 40 years, said it was about the lowest turnout she'd ever seen. About 33 people had cast votes by around 12:30 p.m.

Voters, she said,  just don't turn out in high numbers for local elections. The rain was also keeping voters away, she said.
