Allegheny County to Present South Park Fairgrounds' Master Design Plan

The effort is part of county Executive Dan Onorato's County Parks Action Plan.

A public meeting will be held Wednesday to share the final design recommendation and long-term master plan for the South Park Fairgrounds and adjacent areas.

The final concept incorporates input from the public comment process conducted last fall. The effort is part of county Executive Onorato's County Parks Action Plan, which is transforming and enhancing recreational opportunities at the county's nine regional parks, as well as Allegheny Green—Onorato's comprehensive initiative to promote sustainable practices within county government through countywide policies, programs and projects.

According to its website, Allegheny County invested in fulfilling its pledge made in the Parks Comprehensive Master Plan (along with generous support from The Heinz Endowments and The R.K. Mellon Foundation) to develop a more detailed master plan for each individual park. The project focuses on the 77-acre section of South Park.
