Two Garage Burglaries Reported in Dormont

Both burglaries were reported on or near Broadway Avenue during the same timeframe.

Dormont police are investigating two burglaries from garages in the area of Broadway Avenue that occurred during the same timeframe. 

On July 23, police responded to Broadway Avenue at LaSalle Avenue for a burglary report. A man told police someone entered a garage he rents in the 2800 block of Broadway Avenue, which faces LaSalle, and stole tools and possibly other items.

Police said there were no signs of forced entry, and it appear that someone had entered the garage through a gap between the ground and the bottom of the garage door.

Two days later, another man told Dormont police that someone pried the clasp off of the door of a garage he rents—also in the 2800 block of Broadway Avenue—and stole car parts. According to the police report, the man said he thought the burglary had happened sometime between July 19 and July 25.

Police are investigating both incidents.
